How this premarital counseling works
Our sessions are tailored to the two of you. So we’re always talking about what is most important for the health and happiness of your particular relationship.
I use the SYMBIS (Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts) relationship assessment to give us a tool for better understanding the wide variety of aspects of your relationship.
It’s more conversation than lecture. Sure, there are valued insights and helpful tips I’ve learned over the years that I hope to give each couple, but even then we get to process them with real dialogue together.

THE SIMPLE & SWEET PACKAGE ($400)
You get:
A personalized wedding ceremony officiated by someone with experience, personality, and care for your particular desires for that day
An officiant who will attend your rehearsal and make sure that it’s both fun but also highly effective in getting everyone ready for the big day
The ability to take the SYMBIS (Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts) relationship assessment, and an emailed copy of your full report
Two 80-minute premarital counseling meetings to talk over your SYMBIS results and key takeaways
A 30-minute planning meeting to talk through the details of your special day, personalizing the wedding ceremony to your tastes, story, and personal values
After your wedding, I will fill out, sign, and mail your marriage license to the clerk’s office for you
Accessibility to Jonathan (The Hipster Minister) during the process for any questions, comments, or concerns
THE MASTERPIECE PACKAGE ($600)

Everything in the “Simple & Sweet” ceremony package

Four additional 80-minute premarital counseling sessions where we get to dive deep into the vital topics of communication, conflict resolution, family history, family & future planning, financial stability, and lasting intimacy (giving you a total of 6 full sessions!)
The added peace of mind knowing that your officiant will collaborate in advance of the wedding day with your wedding planner, DJ, and photographer to ensure a cohesive and fine-tuned ceremony without you having to connect those dots at all
THE ALL-INCLUSIVE PACKAGE ($850)

Everything in the “Simple & Sweet,” and “Masterpiece” ceremony packages

The greatest confidence that you are seriously prepared for a lifelong, healthy and happy marriage together, as you get the opportunity for up to 8 total premarital counseling sessions, giving ample time to every topic
A fun and meaningful gift basket to be given on your wedding day that’s filled with all kinds of great resources to bring an extra dose of joy to the start of your married life
• A special travel discount: No additional travel fee needed for weddings under 75 miles from zip code 22405. And a discount for any weddings further than 75 miles.
• A decorative (non-legal) signed marriage certificate for memory’s sake
• A bonus “check-in” counseling session 6 months after your wedding to see how things are going, as well as possibly address anything that might have “come up” in the first few months of actual married life
